Implementation of Network-Based E911
The FCC has mandated that wireless
service providers implement E911 location determining
capabilities into their networks. In an environment
where competition is constantly pressuring growth and
profitability, carriers are struggling to find ways
to satisfy this mandate in a cost-neutral way. For carriers
who have chosen a network-based approach in implementing
E911, Verilink’s WANsuite 7105 product allows
for a cost-effective deployment. The built-in mini-DACs
capability of the 7105 allows a service provider to
integrate the E911 equipment’s need for a single
DS0 to reside on the same T1 that currently carries
the voice traffic, eliminating the need for additional
facilities throughout the deployment.
Features and Benefits
- DSU functionality with integrated
mini-DACs provides for the ability to assign any DS0
to E911 equipment while assigning the remaining channels
to carry voice traffic
- Software platform allows for
unlimited predesigned configuration combinations through
Web browser, VT100, or Telnet management interfaces
- Integrated bantam jacks eliminate
the need for test equipment by detecting line errors
and allowing for looping and BERT injection
- Chassis-based solution with redundant
power offers density terminations that exceed Bellcore
lightning standards to protect your infrastructure
investments
- Each unit supports up to five
equipment terminations to support today’s current
voice and data technologies as well as tomorrow’s
IP-based network applications
