The Verilink craft interface does not assert any control leads. If using Windows 95 Hyperterminal be certain to describe the connection as being a direct serial port connection, as opposed to a modem connection.
Verilink provides two types of "craft cable", each has an RJ-11 at one end. The original Craft cable (P/N 458-501788-008) has a female DB-25 at the other end, while a newer design, (P/N 458-102119-008) presents a DB-9 connector for use with computer COM ports. Connect the RJ-11 modular connector to the port labeled "craft" on the front of the SCC card.
If you have the old style cable with a DB-25 connector, but your computer has a DB-9 for the COM port, you may use the same type of standard PC AT serial cable as would be used to connect to an external modem as an extension to the Verilink provided cable.
The craft cable pinouts are as follows:
| DB-25 Connector | RJ-11 Modular Connector | Lead |
|---|---|---|
2 | 3 | Transmit Data |
3 | 4 | Receive Data |
7 | 5 | Signal Ground |
| DB-9 Connector | RJ-11 Modular Connector | Lead |
|---|---|---|
3 | 3 | Transmit Data |
2 | 4 | Receive Data |
5 | 5 | Signal Ground |
After connecting the Craft cable, press [Enter].
