Verilink NCC Craft Port -- NEAR ELEMENT --

The Near Element command is used to return the craft port session to the locally connected CSU card. Use of NEAR implies that the FAR command was previously used to access a FAR end card at the other end of a T1 line. NEAR and FAR are only useful when a full T1 circuit has continuous ESF framing from one end to the other. Typically the FAR command will not function if a T1 passes through a DACS (Digital Access and Crossconnect System) in the telephone company environment. The DACS usually terminates the FDL portion of the ESF which is used for the FAR terminal session.
