Use this command only after connecting a modem for use by the Access Manager 2000 program for dialup support.
The NCC card will first try to find and option a modem while using a DTE/DCE rate of 19,200 BPS. If no high speed modem is found, gradually lower and lower data rates will be tried.
If a modem is detected it will have certain options set by the NCC card, in order to prepare it for incoming calls.
Most notable among the options used by the NCC firmware are:
ATS0=0 -which turns OFF auto-answer (contrary to what might be expected)
ATV0 -which sets up numeric result codes
To confirm normal operation one might watch the TX (transmit data) and RX (receive data) LEDs on the modem. Typically activity will be seen for up to one minute after doing a Reset COM Ports command.
This command accomplishes the same function as the front panel thumbwheel 31-32 procedure.
