If a node contains a Quad/IMUX installation, a portion of the 8K overhead reserved by each Quad 2164 port may be used for communication to a remote NCM. In this way the user does not need to sacrifice one DS0 (timeslot) of payload bandwidth on some other application module.

In order to function, this option must be enabled on both NCM modules, local and remote.

If no Quad/IMUX installations are present, this option has no effect.
